For example, wire ropes with more small wires usually offer better flexibility, while ropes with fewer but thicker wires usually provide higher abrasion resistance and structural stability.

In addition, the lay direction of the rope helps control torque and rotation. Reverse lay or special anti-rotation designs can reduce twisting, improve stability, and make the rope safer during lifting and hoisting operations.

The Function of the Rope Core

The rope core also contributes to flexibility and performance. The core supports the outer strands, maintains the rope shape, and provides space for small movement between wires and strands.

A fiber core can provide better flexibility and cushioning, while an independent wire rope core offers higher strength and better resistance to crushing. Choosing the right core depends on the working environment, load requirement, and equipment type.
